Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) is an Initiative of the European Union that provides urban areas throughout Europe with resources to test new and unproven solutions to address urban challenges.

The initiative is included in Article 8 of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and has a budget of 372 million euros from the ERDF for 2014-2020.

The UFIL project was selected in the third tender procedure in the field of Employment and Skills from among 184 applications.

The project budget amounts to € 4,929,675.75, of which € 3,943,740.60 corresponds to the European Regional Development Fund with a co-financing rate of 80%.

Urban innovative actions must cover the following characteristics:

The action must be bold, creative, and put forward a project that has not been implemented previously in Europe. It must demonstrate that the idea is experimental and not part of the normal activities of the members.

It involves the key agents, who bring knowledge and experience to the project, both in the design phase and in the implementation phase.

Good quality:

Define realistic ambitions, consistent activities, and effective management. The project must have a logically interconnected work plan, a coherent and proportionate budget and a clear management program.

Describes the expected change with respect to the current situation in the event that the project is successful. Clear results that are measurable and quantifiable.

The urban challenge faced must be relevant for other European urban authorities. They must be able to learn lessons from the experience and share them with key agents and professionals.
